Welcome

Welcome

Hi! I’m so glad you are here to learn with me how to make your camera do what you want it to do and create the images you want to create.

If you pick up a point-and-shoot camera, and push the button, the camera makes all the decisions about how much light to let in, how to let it in, and what to focus on.

The beauty of shooting on a manual camera is that you can have control of all those factors yourself, which helps you create exactly the type of image you have in mind.

Manual photography is really about learning to control how much light comes into your camera, how you let the light in, and what the camera focuses on.

I remember 12 years ago when I started studying photojournalism and my lecturer told me to put my camera on that big M for manual and never move it to Auto again. All the information was just too much for my brain to handle and I couldn't imagine how it would ever come naturally to me. But with time, perseverance and a lot of practise - I can honestly tell you that my camera feels like an extension of my brain and it can for you too.

While I have your attention, I just want to point out that there is valuable information in both the videos AND the written text, so please be sure to go through both.

You will be receiving a personal email from me, which you can reply to should you encounter any problems or frustrations along the way.

Ok, let's get started!
